It's the first day of Camp NaNoWriMo and people are either doing marvelously, or struggling to make it through the first few words.
Listen, it doesn't matter how your story begins, just write those first few words. They're the most important words you'll write for this story...
...Even if you edit them out later.
Just get the words on the paper or screen. No matter how cliché they may sound today, tomorrow (meaning August 1st) after you've fleshed them out, they'll be awesome.
And if they're not cliché and you don't feel the need to toss them away, those of us who are struggling...Well, let's be honest here. We hate you.
